Cyprus is not only about the sea, the beach and delicious food – it also has a rich history and many picturesque and unique places that you should definitely visit. Renting a car, you can not limit yourself only to the resort town you live in, but also see a lot of other interesting places.

We would like to present you 3 places where you can easily reach by car from Larnaca that you will never forget.

Larnaca Salt Lake

Actually it is a complex of four salt lakes next to the Larnaca international airport. The biggest is called Aliki (the name originally means a salt evaporation pond).

During the winter season there are lots of different exotic birds, including famous flamingos. Also on a bank of Aliki lake you can find the Hala Sultan Tekke, the holiest shrine of Turkish Islam.

Stavrovouni Monastery

Also we suggest you visit the Stavrovouni Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the world. The shrine was founded by Saint Helena, when she came to Cyprus from Palestine and brought a piece of the Holy Cross.

Now you can see a small fragment of this cross here, in Stavrovouni! The monastery works 07 am – 12 pm and 3 pm – 7 pm (April – August), 07 am – 11 am, 2 pm – 2 pm (September – March). Unfortunately, women are not allowed to enter the monastery.
